FAQs

Are the stimulators supplied with electrodes?

Yes. When you purchase the Nampad device you'll receive two pairs of electrodes.

How long is the Nampad warranty?

Every Namirsa device has a lifetime replacement warranty for as long as you own it. Accessories, such as electrodes and chargers, are not covered. Massage chairs carry their own 3- or 5-year warranty, depending on the chair. Full details on our warranty page.

How long do the batteries remain charged?

Battery life varies depending on the programs used and the intensities selected. The average battery life is between 15 and 20 hours.

How do you insert the charger into the unit?

It works the same as a regular phone. Insert the USB cable into the device and plug it into the wall using our wall adapter.

How many times can the electrodes be used?

The life of an electrode can vary greatly. Things that affect it include oily skin, placing the electrodes on a hairy surface, and storing the electrodes in a warm, humid area. When the electrodes have dry parts and are not adhering completely to the skin, or if you feel discomfort at the pad surface, it is time to replace them.

What is the reason for the pain that can sometimes be felt under the electrodes?

Some areas of the skin have more sensitive nerve endings. A bad connection between the skin and the electrodes also reduces comfort. Use electrodes that are in good condition, apply them correctly to the skin, and if necessary, move them to a less sensitive area.

Where do I place the electrodes?

The position of the electrodes for each application is shown on the chart included with your product.

The choice of electrode size (large or small) and the correct positioning of the electrodes on the muscle group are essential for comfort and effectiveness.

  • Do not place electrodes directly on the heart.
  • Do not place electrodes on the temple.

Which energy level must be reached for the training programs (strength, resistance, endurance, pain relief)?

The highest level possible, as long as it remains bearable, in order to recruit the most muscle fibers. Your own judgment is the best guide: the contractions must be powerful without ever becoming intolerable. The progress of a stimulated muscle is greater when the device recruits a high number of its fibers.

You do not have to reach the maximum strength from the first contraction of the first session. After the warm-up, which produces clear muscle twitches, raise the stimulation energy gradually from contraction to contraction during the first three or four minutes. Increase energy levels from session to session as well, particularly during the first three sessions of a cycle. A well-prepared athlete will reach significant stimulation energies by the fourth session.

Are there any absolute contraindications for using the device?

Yes. The muscle stimulation device must not be used by people with epilepsy or a pacemaker. Stimulation must never be applied around the stomach area during pregnancy, or by people with a hernia or cancerous lesions.
For a complete list of contraindications, see the product user guide or contact customer service.

Can I apply the electrodes anywhere?

Never apply the electrodes to the head and throat, and avoid the area around the heart. Read the user guide completely, as misuse of the product can lead to harm.

What is the difference between an EMS unit and a TENS unit?

Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS) is used for both acute and chronic pain. It sends electrical impulses to certain parts of the body to block pain signals from reaching the brain. It works at the sensory level and does not cause muscle contraction.

EMS, when used for strength training, sends a signal to the motor nerve of the muscle, causing it to contract. The Active Recovery program uses specific low-level frequencies to increase blood flow, help clear lactic acid, release endorphins and promote muscle relaxation.

The Nampad device combines both EMS and TENS stimulation.

How do I find the body's acupressure points?

See our acupressure chart for the recommended electrode placements.

What position should I be in during electrostimulation sessions?

For programs with powerful muscle contractions (tetanic contractions), stimulate the muscle isometrically: place the body part against an immovable object, such as the floor. Example: if you're working the quads, sit in a chair and plant your feet firmly on the ground.

For other programs (pain relief and recovery, cramp prevention, long-run optimization and overcompensation), sit or lie in a comfortable position.

Can the use of excessively high energy levels cause injury?

If you increase the intensity gradually during the contraction period, the risk of muscle tear or injury is minimal. Using very high energy levels will cause significant soreness. Read the manual completely before starting and follow the progression for your activity level.

Is tolerance to the level of electrical intensity the same for everybody?

No. Everyone has their own level of sensitivity. Read the manual completely before starting and follow the progression for your activity level.

Is there any risk from badly positioned electrodes?

Never apply the electrodes to the head and throat, and avoid the area around the heart. Read the user guide completely, as misuse of the product can lead to harm.

Does Nampad electrostimulation also provide endurance training?

Yes. The devices are programmed to target slow-twitch muscle fibers, which are associated with long durations of activity.

As it is possible to train isolated muscle groups, is there any risk of developing a muscular imbalance?

Nampad muscle stimulation lets you train specific muscle groups that seem weaker, to help improve imbalances. It helps strengthen the weakest link in the muscle chain responsible for a movement, so use it according to your activity level and work all muscle groups equally.

What does the Nampad bring to traditional training?

It helps you make the most of your training time. Nampad devices give you higher-quality workouts because you can train at your maximum effort and recover faster.

Whatever sport you practice, Nampad programs help you train better in less time.

Can a Nampad device replace voluntary training?

No. Nampad muscle stimulation complements your workouts; it does not replace them. Keep practicing movements, technique and cardiovascular training to boost overall performance.

Is it possible to do Nampad sessions on the same days as voluntary training?

Yes, sessions can be done outside of or during voluntary training. If you do both at the same time, we recommend starting with voluntary training. In some cases, particularly for resistance work, it can help to start with a Nampad session to create a state of "pre-fatigue" in the muscle fibers.

Why does training with a Nampad device not cause trauma?

With a Nampad device, muscle contractions build gradually with no sudden pull on the tendons or joints, so it is less likely to cause muscle or tendon trauma. Because the muscle work is intense, you may feel soreness, just like when you begin a new weight-lifting program. Read the manual completely before starting and follow the progression for your activity level.

Can a Nampad device help with conditions such as arthritis, fibromyalgia, tendonitis or sciatica?

Nampad devices use TENS and EMS technology, which many people use to ease nerve and muscle discomfort. If you have a medical condition, talk to your doctor before use.
